On January 2, 2026, French Master Florist Max Hurtaud kicked off the new year with a floral extravaganza that inspired florists worldwide. Through Flower Circus’ live channels on Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram, he shared six stunning arrangements proving that new year’s resolutions can be floral too.

A Livestream Full of Floral Fireworks

While the last confetti from New Year’s Eve was still settling, florists and flower lovers were already tuned in for the first Flower Circus show of 2026. The theme? New Year Floral Resolutions – six arrangements, each embodying a different aspiration for spring. From love and ambition to lightness and pure happiness.

Max Hurtaud, number 3 in Belgium and a staple favorite in the international floral world, showed exactly why he’s so beloved. With technical skills that leave you breathless, and an approachable vibe that makes you feel you could do it too, he guided viewers through his creative process.

Florists around the globe logged in, notebooks at the ready, and Max delivered: six unique designs, countless techniques, and practical tips you can immediately apply in your own studio.

Design 1: Fresh Beginnings – Start the Year Light & Smart

The first arrangement set the tone: fresh ideas, clever construction, and playful details. Max created a custom wire frame in a soft teardrop shape, elevated with a subtle footed stand that gave the bouquet lightness and presence.

Instead of hiding the mechanics, the structure became part of the design. Delicate feathers were attached with spray glue for movement and texture. Flowers were placed through the frame in water tubes—complete control, maximum impact.

The color palette mixed warmth and celebration: Lisianthus Rosanne Terracotta, Alisa White, and Alissa Champagne from Lugt Lisianthus, combined with rich cymbidiums. Proof that New Year's designs don’t need to shout to stand out.

Max’s Tip: “Be patient. First build a strong, stable frame. If the base works, the flowers will shine.”

Design 2: Love – Dried Meets Fresh in a Warm Embrace

For the second arrangement, Max chose a deeper meaning: love. Not just romantic love, but love for friends, colleagues, and those around us. Perfect for the new year, right?

This bouquet combines wired dried materials (Hydrangea, Protea, Anatum) with fresh flowers. By wiring each dried stem individually, Max built a structure without a fixed frame, allowing fresh blooms to be effortlessly placed in between.

The result? A rich, textured bouquet that feels warm, generous, and long-lasting—just as love should be.

Max’s Tip: “Use dried materials as structure. It reduces waste, adds depth, and extends the bouquet’s lifespan. Always wire and tape dry stems well so they’re safe in water and won’t affect the fresh flowers.”

Design 3: Wealth & Ambition – Golden Coins & Double Frames

This arrangement captures the theme perfectly: patience, ambition, balance, and a design that grows—just like our goals for 2026.

The base is a handmade golden aluminum wire frame, built with a double-twisting technique that creates volume, stability, and movement. By layering the frame, Max avoided a flat design and created a powerful, sculptural base.

Hundreds of tiny golden wooden coins were woven into the frame as a symbolic wish for prosperity. How cool is that?

Max’s Tip: “Use two layers to add depth and avoid flatness.”

Design 4: Boldness with Strength – Dare to Be Asymmetric

This arrangement proves that bold ideas start with fearless construction. Max used spider and fan techniques, with strong parallel wires and carefully bound tying points to securely hold even the heaviest flowers.

The asymmetry was intentional. As Max says: “Rules are made to be broken if you want something exceptional.”

The color palette set the tone for 2026: robust Lisianthus Rosanne Terracotta and Emerald, combined with powerful cymbidium orchids and lilies placed in groups for maximum impact.

Max’s Tip: “1. Use unopened lilies high and open flowers lower for better flow. 2. Don’t be afraid of asymmetry—character beats perfection.”

Design 5: Lightness (Cloud Dancer) – Pantone’s Color of the Year in Flowers

A perfect New Year’s resolution in floral form: lighter, calmer, more thoughtful—and proof that white is anything but boring.

In this design, Max translated Pantone’s Color of the Year 2026, Cloud Dancer, into a soft, sculptural floral statement. Inspired by mist, haze, and floating clouds, he built a dreamy white arrangement full of movement.

The design started with an unexpected base: glued and drilled plastic Christmas baubles, reinforced with sticks and placed directly on the vase. Covered with preserved moss, the structure became beautifully white and transformed into a “cloud” where all the stems could be placed freely and securely.

Max combined white Baltica Chrysanthemums from Beyond Chrysant, elegant white Cymbidiums from Special Orchids, multi-stemmed Lisianthus, and softly bleached monstera leaves for depth without heaviness.

Max’s Tip: “Work in groups, not single stems, to keep shapes soft and intentional. Use flowers with many side stems to control placement and volume.”

Design 6: Happiness – Cotton Candy & Joy in a Vase

A sweet, lively finale that reminds us: flowers don’t just decorate a space, they set the mood.

For the final design, Max went all-in on one clear resolution for 2026: be happy. A playful, candy-inspired arrangement where color, texture, and technique make you smile.

The striking detail? The unexpected use of wool dipped in melted candle wax, each piece placed with chopsticks. The result looks like sugary treats or soft candies scattered throughout the design.

The color mix is bold and cheerful: dyed peach Cymbidiums, amazing and bright Lilies from Love for Lilies Lisianthus in Blue, Pink, and Champagne tones, plus lilies at different heights for lightness and movement.

Max’s Tip: “These flowers drink a lot, so use larger tubes for commercial designs. Mix colors. Mix textures. Don’t overthink happiness—just design it!”
